At first, hearing about Baby Reindeer, it sounded boring, not the show itself but the title. I thought Baby Reindeer was actually about a baby reindeer, but further into my investigation and after hours of binge-watching it, I found out how good this show was. The reviews were spot on. Each episode leaves you wanting to know more and more. What shocked me about this show was that the lead actor plays himself. Yes, he plays himself, and he plays himself well for a man who went through this and is reliving it. His performance is breathtaking. He makes you feel uncomfortable and scared of him. Let me give a little run-down of the show: Donny, played by Richard Gadd, is working at a pub when one day a lady by the name of Martha stumbles upon the pub and sits down for a drink, greeted by Donny. They began to have a nice conversation well, mainly just her talking and him listening. She goes on about how she can’t be there for very long because she’s a lawyer and has many clients, but she ended up staying the whole day until the pub closed and every day. After that, she went from opening to closing. She then began to text him afterward, each time over 100 messages. She flooded the email. He got to the point where she sent him sexual messages and told people they were in a “relationship”. There was too much to uncover to fit in, and I also don’t want to give too many spoilers, but honestly, this show left me shaken to my core. It made me realize there’s always two sides to every story. I recommend this show to anyone who loves a good drama.
