Everyone has a favorite animal; however, I do not; instead, I have a favorite insect: dragonflies. Do not get the wrong impression, I am not a fan of bugs. In fact, I am allergic to most bugs–especially mosquitoes–and tend to stay away from creepy crawlers when I can. However, dragonflies have intrigued me ever since I was young. With around 7,000 species of dragonflies, you are almost guaranteed to see a different kind each time which makes them so special. I in particular love blue dragonflies. Although common, blue dragonflies hold a very special place in my heart. Vividly, I remember chasing blue dragonflies around during recess in kindergarten. I was never able to catch any, but I enjoyed the chase. If lucky enough I was able to get a good look at them for about fifteen to twenty seconds before they would swiftly fly away. Dragonflies’ intricate and delicate wings, accompanied with their peaceful yet buzzing nature, still captivate me to this day. Truly, these beautiful creatures deserve more love and recognition.
