We get it, this is a controversial opinion, but robotics should be considered a sport. Although stereotypically reserved for nerds, robotics requires a time commitment, athleticism, and motivation unlike any other sport.
Robotics kids are here for much longer than any other athlete. Not only is the season year-round, but meetings often end up six to seven hours long—daily. No other sport can compare with their easy three-hour practices three times a week: pfft, catch us a break. Plus, the robot is 125 pounds, and constantly has to be lifted up and down to the table from the floor. Tapping is rough, and don’t even get us started on carrying the huge aluminum sheets. If you can do the workout below, maybe we’ll allow you to join our team.
Do each of the following 3x:
- 10x battery box pick-ups
- 15x note tosses
- 5x drill taps
- 20x unscrew #10-32 screws
- 10 without Loctite
- 10 with Loctite
- 5x spray pain can shakes (30 sec each)
- 10x robot squats
