Deaf/Hard of Hearing Student Association
By Averi Halbert and Mia Hanuska
“Sorry, what did you say? Huh?” are common questions asked at Deaf and Hard of Hearing Student Association meetings. Full of fun, yet educational, content, the association meets twice a month on B-day Tuesdays in Ashleigh Tighe’s room, classroom 24. With games such as Kahoots, pin the Hearing Aid on the Ear, and musical chairs balanced with presentations about ASL, hearing loss prevention, and deaf history, this club works hard to create an environment where learning and fun can coexist.
Since the majority of members are not hearing impaired (which is totally fine—everyone is welcome!), DHoHSA aims to spread awareness and normalize something usually incredibly stigmatized. Meetings are relatively short and are typically hands-on activities. Anyone is welcome, and we hope to see you there!
