Each year, Westmont ASB puts on our annual Battle of the Classes Week in the spring, which includes a week filled with spirit days, lunchtime activities, and of course a rally. This year’s homecoming week took place from March 11th through the 14th and the theme was “musical movies.” Within the overall theme, each class had its own movie in which they were representing through lip sync and rally corner. This year’s Seniors theme was Pitch Perfect, Juniors took on the John Travolta classic, Grease, and the Sophomores showcased the magical La La Land. Finally, the Freshmen took us through the land of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious with their Marry Poppins theme! Throughout the week, the four classes competed for the most spirit points for their chance to win the Wally Cup! Read on to find out which class took the coveted trophy home!
Left with only a short amount of time to set up their rally corners this year due to badminton practice in the gym, the excellent ASB kids rose to the challenge and still delivered with creative designs! Below are the following class corners, before the rally, when floods of students took over the stands:
The Freshmen flew away with their Mary Poppins theme, including a homemade bell tower, a cityscape full of cut-out kites, bright colors, and cute penguin cutouts! They also included colorful streamers and even a balloon border around their banner! Their corner placed 4th overall!
The sophomores had a lovely night, with homemade signs advertising Seb’s and Hollywood, a cityscape photo backdrop, and cardboard car cutouts. They also included beautiful streamers, balloons, and stars to set the scene for a La La Land-themed corner! Their corner placed 3rd overall!
The juniors’ corner, split into a diner section and a bedroom section, won over the approval of the judges! They included individual table settings complete with homemade meals, a wooden car cutout, and a balloon milkshake to complete the diner. In the bedroom, they displayed clothing racks, pink blankets, beanbags, and picture frames of Elvis on the wall, giving off teenage girl bedroom vibes. Finishing off the corner, they included red and white streamers and records across the corner to provide an amazing look that earned them first place!
The seniors worked tirelessly to craft this Pitch Perfect Masterpiece! From an entire homemade wood Barden Bellas tour bus, to individual CDs with every class of 2024 student’s name on it, to picture frames with senior memories from all four years, they really paid attention to details and their theme. Their corner placed 3rd overall!
Carefully crafted banners for each class are hung front and center in each corner at the rally. Spanning an entire 15 feet long and 3 feet wide, they are judged on their creativity, neatness, and how well they fit the theme! Below are each of the class banners for this BOTC:

To lead up to our exciting BOTC Rally, we also held spirit days centered around our common theme of Musical Movies. With hundreds of students showing out every day, our Warriors brought some creative outfits to show off their spirit!

Tuesday, March 12: Rhyme Without Reason (Willy Wonka)
Wednesday, March 13: On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink! (Mean Girls)
Thursday, March 14: Class Colors (BOTC Rally Day!)
At the very end of the rally on Thursday night, students had their highest levels of spirit! After a long week of dressing up for spirit days, participating in lunchtime activities, and then playing rally games, and cheering for their classes as loud as they could, every warrior waited in anticipation through Laura Saldana’s annual rally points presentation! After learning they won 1st place in both corner, banner, and lip sync, the Juniors were ecstatic and hopeful they might be the class to take home the Wally Cup! However, Class of 2024, loud as ever and decked out in black had a feeling they were going to take home the trophy this time! Mrs. Saldana then announced the final spirit points and overall, it was the Seniors who racked up the most this year from the first day of school, through homecoming, and then BOTC! They all happily cheered with pride and comfort in the fact that the Wally Cup would have Class of 2024 engraved on its side!
