Pie is the perfect year-round desert. The endless options between flavor and fillings, toppings, and crust styles makes it arguably the best dessert ever. Don’t disagree with us, you won’t win.

#1 – Apple

Amazingly incredible every time without fail, but just how incredible it is depends on its crust. The best version is the Dutch Apple, and, honestly, I would eat this any and every day if I could. Especially if it is nice and warm with vanilla ice cream on the side. Always look for the recipes that include golden raisins inside… literally to die for. Unbeatable, literally the best thing that exists in the world. Bonus: One of the only pies you can truly-truly eat year-round without judgment (from us).

#2 – Pumpkin

Lots of mixed feelings about this one… I love it, for sure, but sometimes its flavor catches me off guard and leaves me wondering if I am eating healthy. I think the only truly appropriate time to eat this one is Thanksgiving. If you don’t eat this pie at Thanksgiving you are messed up. It’s also really good with ice cream, not necessarily warmed up, and homemade whipped cream. Kinda basic and not a lot of variations here… (Have you tried the Costco version? To die for and super cheap)

#3 – Mixed Berry

This one screams summer and spring and is especially perfect for all fruit lovers. The imagery that accompanies a picture of this pie… It just makes you feel like you are sitting on a swing on a porch with your grandparents at sunset, listening to the frogs emerge. Beautiful. Now, the only con to this one, is the seeds you get stuck in your teeth. It can be pretty brutal to work those out, but the delectable taste far outweighs the sheer amount of toothpicks that will be needed shortly after. This is another pie that is amazingly warmed up and with ice-cream on the side.

#4 – Lemon Meringue

Another summer-spring pie, but this one isn’t so amazing. The sourness and tartness sunk to the bottom half and the admittedly perfect meringue on top, just doesn’t seem to flow as well as one would hope. The extreme contrast to our parents ideas on this pie, leaves tension in the house as we debate what flavor to make for easter-one that has yet to be resolved. Overall, this pie really has no redeeming qualities to justify the extreme flavor of lemon shoved upon your poor taste buds.

#5 – Sweet Potato

Why even bother trying to make this seem like a different pie from pumpkin, we all know they are the exact same things. This one just makes it seem like it is healthier for the benefit of those almond moms out there. If you are going to get a Thanksgiving pie, why go for the rip off version, just get the pumpkin. They taste, look, and quite honestly, feel the same. Just get the OG.

#6 – Strawberry Rhubarb

In full transparency, the only time we have had this pie was 3 years ago and made from our cousin (14? At the time), so take what we say about this one with a grain of salt. No other words do this pie justice except for one, peculiar. Never had we had before, something so bizarrely not tasty and tasty at the same time. If you are curious about this, I would suggest you get it from an actual bakery rather than how we sourced ours. Quite the experience, so bitter and yet so dull… To be frank, such a fascinating pie that we recommend the experience to everyone.
