The Germination of a New Club!

By Keira De Vita

New to Westmont this semester is the Indoor Plant Club! The club teaches the ins and outs of indoor plant care and what they are all about! The club focuses on an ongoing project where each member “gets to grow their own propagated plant in the classroom,” says president Josie Todd. As of now (March 4), the club is growing “spider plants and some string of bananas!” Focusing on inspiration outside of school, the club properly prepares its members to get into plants. No matter what type of experience a member has they are taught sufficiently about how to care for different indoor plants. Josie also says that they “spotlight plants that might interest people and try to help people learn to take care of their plants.” This truly emphasizes the amount of consideration they have for their members, hoping to pass along knowledge and foster a club that piques the interests of many.

The club thrives and has accomplished so much in so little time due to its amazing board. Leading the club to greatness are presidents Jordan Kwwong, and Josie Todd (also social media manager). Alongside is secretary Kianna Liggs and treasurer Shreya Ghoshal.

For the following semesters that the plant club is in action, they hope to continue what they have started; using that as a foundation to grow. They want to go further into the education of indoor plant care and to do more projects. Maybe next year the club will start soiling plants!! We will just have to wait and see where the fantastic board members take this phenomenal club.

Plant Club’s meetings are every Tuesday A day in Ms. Bachelor’s room, room 36! Follow them on instagram @whsplants to stay connected.
