Picked last, fired first, and first to be criticized, women are consistently victims of discrimination. Whether they face hardship in jobs, or sometimes even in school, society always doubts what a woman is capable of. “ She’s not intelligent enough,” is what we hear some say, when a woman shows interest in a career that most men operate. But why is it that women matter the most? It is not because they sit on the sideline; women are influential and have demonstrated that they are more than that. Women have shown that they deserve to have a voice in society today.
Mothers of children, teachers, nurses, and perhaps even doctors are some amazing women we are surrounded by everyday. If we imagine a life without them, a life without all that they do, there is nothing to imagine, since they are the root of all life. Women are valuable and are treasured most today because women matter and deserve to be treated equally. Through issues of jobs and education that have been ongoing for many years, women have stuck together and have always fought to better their situation. So why do we care about what women have done? Well, a woman who shows power empowers other women to do so. A woman who breaks past the cycles of unfairness and not being treated well proves to another woman that she too can do the same. Whether it is your mother, your grandmother, or your neighbor, thank a woman in your life for always being there. Thank her for showing you what a true woman is, and thank her for proving that she does matter and that she has a place here today, because women are meant to feel loved, not just this month, but everyday.
