Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies!

By Sophia Doan and Donya Vandersteen

Ingredients:

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks) butter (browned)

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups chocolate chips

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Put butter into a saucepan and let boil on medium heat. Once there is a nutty aroma and the butter has a brown color, take off heat and set aside to cool slightly. Be careful the butter doesn’t burn!
  4. Pour the granulated and brown sugar into a separate bowl, and stir in the browned butter. Add in the vanilla and eggs and stir completely.
  5. Pour the dry ingredients in with the butter mixture and fully combine until you have a smooth dough. The dough may not hold shape because of the warm butter which is ok!
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop the dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet line with parchment paper.
  8. Put in the oven and bake for 9-11 minutes. Adjust the time based on the size of the cookies.
  9. Enjoy!
