As someone who is single, and plans on being single for the foreseeable future, Valentine’s day is not an extraordinarily exciting holiday for me. However, just because I’m single doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the tasty chocolates that pop up in stores during the Valentine’s season. So, I will be rating the three most iconic chocolates that can be found in stores (like Target) based on taste and general price.
- Hershey Kisses (9/10)
I had to include these. I mean, Hershey Kisses are the Valentine’s chocolates! Despite being an extremely simple chocolate ( plain milk chocolate), Hershey Kisses still manage to be iconic and tasty (I mean who doesn’t like milk chocolate?). Plus, Kisses tend to be fairly cheap and come in large packages, which is why I’m giving them a 8.5/10 on taste and a 9.5/10 on pricing.
- Ferrero Rocher (8/10)
With a hard, nutty exterior, and a soft, chocolatey interior, these chocolates are some of the most delicious I have ever tasted. Taste aside, the chocolates themselves are fairly well known, and often associated with Valentine’s Day, which makes them perfect to eat by yourself and pretend you actually have a valentine and aren’t single. Unfortunately, despite their wonderful taste, these chocolates are shockingly expensive, a single box typically $40. So, because of the price, I have rated these chocolates an overall 8/10 (6/10 for price, 10/10 for taste).
- Dove Chocolates (milk chocolate) (7/10)
Although a simple milk chocolate, Dove is creamy and smooth, which gives it an edge over other milk chocolates. The brand itself is often associated with Valentine’s Day, making it a perfect chocolate to eat alone on the day of romance. However, like Ferrero Rocher these chocolates can get pretty pricey, $25 for a single bag. The price and taste makes me give these chocolates a 7/10 overall (6/10 for price, 8/10 for taste).
