Guac, a spectacular blend of avocado and lime, gently spread over a delicate and perfectly glazed donut; it has to be one of the best foods for breakfast, lunch, and possibly even dinner.
Driving home from an amazing trip to Disneyland, my best friend and I sat in the back of the car, singing songs and sleeping through the subtle hum of the car engine running. I woke up to the sound of the front window rolling down, and a sheriff talking to Jenn, my friend’s mom. “Unfortunately, this road is closed. Sorry for the inconvenience.” We pulled off of the road and looked for a different way home. We searched our destination on Google Maps, and shocking red numbers instantly appeared on the screen. 11.5 hours. Reluctantly, we started driving towards home, steering our car across the beautiful coast, disappointed that we would return home so late. A few restful naps, songs, and gas stops later, we realized how hungry we were. We drove to the nearest Chipotle, and I stacked my bowl with salsa, guacamole, rice, beans, beef, and more delicious food items. Conveniently, there was a delicious donut shop right next door. We ordered glazed donuts and joyfully walked back to the car, delighted by our food choices.
I opened the Chipotle, and Jenn handed me one of the delectable donuts we had purchased. There, in that one instant, I made the best mistake of my life. I accidentally set the donut down on top of my Chipotle bowl, which was stacked to the brim with guac. Initially, I was miserable, I had wasted guac and a whole bite of a donut. Though thinking about it, curiosity rose, wondering how bad the mix would taste. Hesitantly, I picked up the donut and took a bite out of it. As soon as the creamy guacamole rested on top of the perfectly made donut entered my mouth, tears came to my eyes. The spectacular combination was one of the best things I had ever tasted. The savory flavor of the guac complimented the sweet donut, just as salt goes perfectly with caramel. I set the donut down, grabbed my fork, and glazed the entire shining pastry in guac. It was heaven on a plate. Even now, writing this article, I can imagine the glorious taste of my accidental concoction.
“You’re weird.” “I hate you for that.” “What in the world?” Constantly, I get remarks and comments about my favorite snack. Every person I have spoken to never thinks about how good the combination could be. If you’ve never tried it, you’ll never know. Guac on donuts just cannot be denied.
Guacamole toast, a popular item for breakfast or lunch, is loved by many. Guac on donuts is a similar food item, just with an added sweetness. The smooth, creamy texture of the guacamole provides a satisfying mouthfeel and adds richness to the donut. Additionally, the spread/dip has so many health benefits, which further shows why it is such a good meal.
After finishing our lunch, we continued driving. The entire bumpy car ride, the only thing I could think about was the intriguing and delicious concoction I had formulated. Try it. You won’t regret it.
Obviously, Guac, a spectacular blend of avocado and lime, gently spread over the delicate and perfectly glazed donut has to be one of the best foods for breakfast, lunch, and possibly even dinner.
