Christmas at Queen’s Trees

By Sophia Doan and Donya Vandersteen

Queen’s Trees: a magical place that greets you with a warm, cozy feeling, adorable dogs and the aroma of hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies from the moment you walk in. Queen’s Trees was the perfect first job. With friendly coworkers and amazing managers, we enjoyed every minute spent working there. Having the flexibility to pick your schedule made the job ideal for highschool students like us. Even during setup, which required a lot of work, we all had so much fun running around and laughing in the pouring rain. “I feel like I shouldn’t get paid for this, it’s so much fun” Sophia Doan would announce to her parents almost every night after work. No matter the task, we never had a single complaint about working at Queens. It became the thing we both looked forward to every day, and every single moment was enjoyable.

Working kiosk consisted of busy weekends with lines so long you couldn’t see the end, a small heater and many chai lattes to keep us warm, and cramming in study sessions between customers, but even then, there was never a dull moment. One of the most exciting by far, was meeting NFL star, Nick Bosa, and even having the honor of selling him a Christmas tree! No matter the customer, we would ring them up with a big smile on our face, a joyful tone in our voice, and a whole lot of holiday cheer to share.

Besides being an amazing job, Queen’s is also an incredible place to purchase a beautiful Christmas Tree, gorgeous wreath, or an adorable wooden reindeer. The holiday spirit fills the air with Christmas music playing from every speaker, warm lights hung from above, and the nostalgic smell of douglas fir.  With a wide variety of trees from normal to flocked, short to tall, skinny to wide, Queen’s Trees is bound to have the perfect tree to bring home to the family. We absolutely recommend you consider Queen’s Trees as your next, or first, job, or an addition to your families holiday traditions!
