As temperatures plummet, knowing what to wear in order to keep yourself warm becomes a necessity. These versatile options will keep you nice and toasty when braving the cold winter winds.
- Puffy coat
In northern California, winter days can get as low as 40 degrees, making thick coats a must-have. I am a fan of fleece-lined jackets so I don’t have to wear another jacket under the puffy one.
- Fuzzy socks
Whether you are staying indoors or going out, the temperature of your feet can make a big difference in the temperature of your body. Keep them warm with a pair of fluffy socks, and maybe even double up! They come in cute patterns and colors and are easy to find at your local Target.
- Thermals/base layer
When I got my first thermal from Costco, I was skeptical of how much it would actually keep my body warm. Unbeknownst to me, when worn under t-shirts or jeans, the seemingly thin fabric keeps the body at a perfect temperature. As the winter wind becomes bitingly cold, a good ol’ thermal underneath keeps you nice and toasty.
- Beanies, scarves, and hand warmers
I absolutely hate the feeling when my fingers or ears are cold. At any time, you can find me wringing my hands together and shoving them in my pockets, searching for any remnant of heat. Such small parts of your body generate a (quite) disproportionate amount of uncomfortableness, combat that with beanies, scarves, or hand warmers. Whether they’re handmade or store-bought, these accessories are game changers, especially for those who walk to school (good luck guys!).
- Knit sweaters/crewnecks
Cute chic tops that are perfect to wear under the puffer jacket or hoodie, there’s truly nothing more to say.
