Trends and articles of clothing come and go, but some are worth sticking around. As someone who enjoys fashion and exploring the realm of fashion, I have taken the initiative to write about my favorite and least favorite aspects of fashion, and highlight the way that this influences my style! The category of my stamp of approval will go as so: approved (amazing, show stopping, yes.), sure (yes, but I would not wear it/ it could be better), and um no (please do not wear…).

1. Mixed metals: sure. Depending on the look or aesthetic being expressed this could really work, or it possibly complements your complexion… but try to use color rather than mixed metals.

2. Skinny fit pants (Skinny jeans, tight leggings): um no… There are so many ways to bring dimension to an outfit, this is not it.

3. Rubber canvas shoes (eg Converse, Vans, etc): approved! These pieces round out the outfit. Not every style can be completed with a heel or ballet flat. A “skater shoe” or some type of high top can bring a specific elevated look to your desired aesthetic. Not too flashy, not too simple.

4. Lettuce trim socks: sure. This is a stretch. Bring an outfit to the next level with layering factors around the ankle or a fun shoe. Lettuce trim almost never works due to the length of the sock. An exception can be made when considering the classic pair of those socks with a good clogs or low cut shoe.

5. Turtle necks: sure. Turtle necks add an element to layering, but overall fail when simply trying to rep a cute, warmer outfit; they never sit right. A turtle neck can be paired perfectly with a sweater on top (bonus points if the turtle neck’s sleeves poke out [maybe flowy!?]).

6. Mid length cropped sweaters: no. Either crop it or keep it full length. The cut off unproportionately cuts the body up; it is not the most flattering choice.

7. Flowy pants: APPROVED. I may be biased, but large, flowy pants are simply the best. Breathable, and filled with dimension, lots can be done on the top part of the body to emphasize these staple pieces in a wardrobe.

8. Anything camouflage patterned: no. Absolutely not.

9. Mid-rise pants: sure. Unless they compliment your figure, mid rise pants do near to nothing for the emphasis of style or body accentuation. High rise and low rise pants cut up the body in more cohesive ways that present an overall finished look.

10. Zip ups: sure. While comfortable, so much more can go into an outfit. Cardigans or pullovers add more to the outfit.
