AOTI: Marina Halbert

Diving deep into the girl’s volleyball season 2023-2024, varsity player Marina Halbert shines brightly on and off of the court! A volleyball player for the last seven years, Marina began her volleyball career at Rolling Hills Middle School in sixth grade and has been playing ever since. Apart from school teams, Marina plays for City Beach volleyball club in the school’s off-season. Growing as a player, the blonde athlete has found her home on the court as a middle, yet proves to be a very adaptable player with the ability to play multiple positions; truly a pivotal part of the team.

Throughout her four years at Westmont, Marina has played on Varsity all 4 years, proving dedication and commitment to her school’s team. Reflecting, her favorite year of volleyball at Westmont was freshman year. In addition, her favorite memory while playing high school volleyball was when a team tradition during sophomore year occurred; the team went bonding. Her dream for the school team is to get past the quarter-finals of Central Coastal Sections (CCS). Marina is a superstar outside of the court maintaining strong academic grades and represents the volleyball team well through the activities—such as the blood drive club—that she is in around campus. Importantly, the middle is also an amazing friend. Compassionate and spirited, Marina brings an energy into each room (especially on the court) that is incomparable; you could say it’s quite glistening. Her fun energy buoys the team, keeping us afloat. As someone who has played right beside her for the past seven years, it goes a long way to say Westmont is lucky to have an athlete as amazing as Marina Halbert.
