Each year, Westmont ASB puts on our annual Homecoming Week in the fall, which includes a week filled with spirit days, lunchtime activities, a football game, and of course the dance. This year’s homecoming week is taking place from September 25th to 30th and the theme is “multiverses.” Within the overall theme, each class has its own multiverse in which they represent through lip sync and rally corner. This year’s seniors are representing Barbie Land from the new hit Barbie movie which came out this summer. The juniors are representing the land of Oz, from the Wizard of Oz, while the sophomores are showcasing Candyland, the candy filled universe from the well loved board game of our childhoods. Finally, the freshmen chose Wonderland from the classic Alice in Wonderland tale. Here are the following spirit days and events that will be occurring each day:
- Monday, September 25th (minimum day): Barbie day! Dress up as your favorite barbie (ex. veterinarian, tennis player, astronaut) or just wear pink!
- Tuesday, September 26th: Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum day. Wear the same thing as a friend or group to represent Tweedle Dee and Dum from Alice in Wonderland. Lunch time Activity: FR and SO lip sync during lunch in the quad.
- Wednesday, September 27th: Class color day: Freshmen wear grey, Sophomores wear red, Juniors wear white, and Seniors wear black. SR and JR lip sync will take place at lunch, homecoming rally at night in the gym – 7pm.
- Thursday, September 28th: Mad hatter tea party day! Wear silly hats to represent the mad hatter and bring a cup/mug to receive free tea in the quad at break at our “tea party”
- Friday, September 29th: Westmont pride gear day. Show up in any westmont color. Homecoming football game vs. Sobrato. Varsity will kick off at 7 p.m. Walk with your class in the annual Halftime parade.
- Saturday, September 30th: Homecoming dance: Avatar themed (A night in Pandora), held at westmont in the gym, Buy tickets at student store, Dress formal and no heels.
This year, the annual homecoming tradition of powerpuff football is being moved to the week prior to homecoming because it takes place at lunch and two of the days during homecoming week this year are minimum days (no lunch). The Freshmen will be playing the Sophomores on September 19th at lunch in the bowl and the Juniors will take on the Seniors on September 20th.
Lastly, dress up for spirit days and participate in rally games to gain points for your class in order to get a chance to win the Wally Cup at the end of the year! Ask any questions to Mrs. Saldana in the activities office, visit the school Instagram, or refer to the homecoming email sent out to all.
