After the year 2016, the Bay Area’s most popular and successful music festival, Outsidelands, lost one of their most talented performers. Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, formerly known as Lana Del Rey, left the San Francisco music festival to work on new albums that would grow to be extremely successful and would eventually bring her back to the festival. After the release of “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under ocean boulevard”, Del Rey’s ninth studio album, she embarked on overcoming her fears of the judgmental public and began lighting up the stage again.
One of the most memorable days for Del Rey fans, August 12, 2023, was her big return to Outsidelands. She said, “San Francisco is the closest I’ve been to home during this tour” and that made the night much more special than it already was. For her set list (which will be linked below), Del Rey started the show with her most famous song at the moment, “A&W”. As she performed songs from what is seen to be her most successful album, “NFR”, the crowd sang along and watched how Del Rey has changed as a performer. After playing a few songs from her newer albums, there was a video played that brought the entire audience back to 2013, the “Born to Die” era. Del Rey brought back many of her most magnificent and classic songs from her second studio album, “Born to Die: the Paradise Edition”. As Del Rey performed her most famous song, “Video Games,” on her floral swing, the night was coming to an end. Although the crowd was tense and aggressive at first, by the end of the set, the love and excitement to have seen Del Rey was flowing through the air. It was a beautiful night and Del Rey’s heavenly performance definitely proved that our sad girl is back and better than ever.
