Where is home for you?
Family is where my home exists. I feel understood, respected, and appreciated when I am with my family.
Who do you admire the most?
I’ve grown up around my grandma, whether on video calls, visits to India, or her frequent visits to California. She’s always been my role model, displaying strength, hard work, courage, and respect. In 2013, her husband, my mom’s dad, passed away unexpectedly. For 10 years, she lived by herself in India, traveling between California and her motherland. However, as a family, we decided to get her a green card so she could live with us permanently.
Living with my grandma is an experience that I am beyond grateful for. I have a person who is excited to see me when I come home and immediately asks me about my day. Every day, my sister and I have freshly cooked food ready for us to devour. She has immense love for her granddaughters and selflessly cares for us. She has shown me how to be a strong, independent woman. With the addition of my grandma to our family, we have nurtured a stronger bond and created many unforgettable memories.
