Two Peas In A Pod

By Raven Carthon and Rachel Walker

Zoom class 2022. Two girls who don’t know each other make eye contact. From that day forth, the two talked everyday. The two girls happened to be us, Raven and Rachel.

Zoom class came with many different challenges. Never in a million years could I have guessed I would meet one of my best friends in English Honors 2 Zoom, but I did. On a random day, I received a text from a number I didn’t recognize that read “Hey it’s Raven from English.” From that day forth we would text constantly through class. I quickly learned that like Raven and I also liked Harry Styles, one of the many things that grew our relationship to where it is today. The prior week I had bought five copies of Vouge Magazine that had Harry on the cover. Driving over 20 minutes, I happily dropped off the Harry Magazine, which also happened to be the first time we met and took a photo together. After a short, laughter-filled conversation I went home, excited to have a new friend. Since that day, we have taken hundreds of more photos and shared thousands more laughs. Although in a month we will be cross country, I know our friendship will continue to grow and stay strong. Raven, I love you so much and I am so thankful that you looked at me that one time in class. See ya later alligator (get it, because like, UF Gators). I know you will do great things and I can’t wait to see where life takes you!

Raven’s POV:

“Is this girl looking at me right now?” I kept asking myself this question every time something funny would happen in our virtual class and we would laugh together. Soon, I started making silly faces to see if I would get a reaction, and it was true! I soon got this hilarious girl’s number and told her how much I loved her spirit and comedy. Since, I am glad to call this girl one of my best friends. I am so blessed to have such a light in my life to guide me through the perilous triumphs of high school. Although we will be on two ends of the country, no amount of space or distance will stop our friendship. Rachel, I hope you know how much I love and value your friendship and I am so proud of my baby Zag!
