Not Just Another Craft

By Keira De Vita

Homemade jewelry, A skill easy to learn or pick up. Instead of wasting my life away on my phone, I distract myself with hobbies, one of them making jewelry. Back in 2020, I started a business that later morphed into a jewelry business, Sunbox Designs. Little did I know how much doing something like this would impact me. I make jewelry out of anything and everything; my favorite thing is to craft any type of necklace.

Making jewelry not only saves money but expands and enriches the mind with creativity. Pick up a gem, a seashell, or a random object– tie some string or wire around it and you have jewelry. Jewelry can be anything the crafter desires which proves why crafts are the best pastime and hobby to attempt. Making jewelry at home is also sustainable and trustable. Sustainable due to the fact that the crafter themselves makes it, and does not endure travel for delivery. Trustable because it is made by one person rather than a company that may rely on fast fashion means of production this slowly eliminates the urge for companies to indulge in fast fashion ethics.
