I would not be the person I am today without my experience from kindergarten to fifth grade at Village Elementary School. The charter school located on West Parr Avenue, sharing a field with Capri Elementary school shaped the “tough side” of me. The horrible field, grassy green field scattered with divots made by the kids of Capri; our enemies. Sharing that field led to many inside recess days and school wide clean up day (cleaning up the field). That field built many memories: racing my friends, doing gymnastics, and fun runs. Learning to count with marbles, finger painting murals, and Cooking With Gina. The other special part of Village was its curriculum. Each person had the ability to contribute something to the school. Talent shows open to all, and a school wide mural were highlights of this school culture. Although our absences of homework at the school hurt me when entering middle school, I would not choose any other school. I have made life time friends that I am still connected with– those elementary school memories remain the most priceless memories in my head.
