Upcoming Disaster

By Keira De Vita

Tainted by the transfer of ownership, Marvel is on a steady downhill fall– crashing to an inevitable and anticipated “death.” By “death of Marvel,” I mean Marvel sucks. The true high quality, heart filling movies in the franchise ended long ago; dragging interest away from watching the new movies entirely. I am no longer filled with anticipation to watch these action movies– action movies!

The uncontainable anticipation has drained from my body (especially after She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and left me and movie critics not desperately wanting more. Arguably (but not arguably because I am right), “peak Marvel,” Marvel’s highest point, predates to around 2015 when Marvel released Avengers: Age of Ultron. This film finally put all the characters together and created one of the most interesting action movies to exist. Mixing hot middle age superheroes, with a futuristic idea of what happened when Tony Stark’s AI took over, the movie is just perfect. New characters and new relationship dynamics are created in this film– such as Wanda and Vision– that would later play pivotal roles in what should have been the end of the franchise (or at least the term ‘Avengers’).

Old fame and wild fans now are being taken advantage of as new management captures this excitement only to produce subpar movies and television shows while making millions off of these wild and edger fans. Phase… 5 and 6 sound interesting but not Marvel interesting. The extended credits, crowd reactions in the movie theaters, and the anticipation to see heroes like Iron Man are all feelings long gone. The phase out of the original cast was quick and blunt, something I would never like to relive.

The only good thing to come out of the Marvel universe post Avengers: Endgame is WandaVision. One of the best Marvel things ever produced (and I will not be taking criticism or comments at this time). WandaVision was insanely perfect in every way it could have been, which was why I and many other fans were disappointed when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit the screens (this disappointment is a completely different article to write about another issue of The Shield). Besides Wanda Vision the only other movie I am excited for is Deadpool 3– if Marvel screws this one up it’s truly over.
