John Wick 4

By Adam Sarsfield

Warning: The John Wick series contains many violent scenes and mature content to the point where the movies all maintain an assertive “M for mature” rating. Viewer discretion is advised.

To properly prepare new viewers for the series a brief recap of the series is needed to summarize the first three movies. The first movie starts with John Wick, a retired high-profile assassin played by Keanu Reeves, living out a happy retirement until his wife, Helen Wick played by Bridget Moynahan, is diagnosed with an undisclosed cancer. She shortly dies leaving John alone with only himself to grieve until a puppy is sent to his home as a final gift from his wife to comfort him. However, due to a confrontation with a local Russian mobster John’s home is invaded and his dog is killed in the crossfire. This unnecessary murder of his wife’s final gift sends John over the edge and causes him to unretire to seek revenge. After he handles the mobster, inside a designated safe zone, John is then hunted down for this retaliation by the young mobster’s father and subsequently the mobster’s father is also handled. This marks the end of the first movie and following this film the other two movies follow John trying his hardest to survive an onslaught of assassination attempts.

The latest installment of the John Wick franchise continues this mission of survival as the fourth installment of the series follows John trying to rid the bounty on his head. The audience follows John traveling all around the world to recruit help for himself. The movie has been in theaters since March 24 and will most likely be rotated out of the theater’s watch list.
