Super Bowl 57 Recap

By Haris Kadich

One of the most entertaining Super Bowl contests in recent years was Super Bowl 57. On the biggest stage in the NFL, the NFC and AFC’s top seeds squared against each other. The games were very close throughout, going into halftime the Eagles had a 10 point lead and momentum going into the second half. When the teams hit the field to begin the third quarter, the Chiefs defense came out flying to the football and their offense began to click once again,  the ball down the field with ease. The Eagles had the opportunity to force a turnover, recover the ball, and drive down the field to win the game, but instead were hit with a holding penalty on third down  down that gave the Chiefs an automatic first down and eventually led to Patrick Mahomes driving them down the field where they won with a walk-off field goal.

Following the nail biting victory, Patrick Mahomes was deemed the Super Bowl MVP boasting  an amazing stat line of 21/27 passing with 0 interceptions and 3 touchdowns. His performance definitely deserved a Super Bowl MVP. Although the Eagles suffered a tough loss, they did very well. Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia quarterback had 70 rush yards which is the most ever by a quarterback in a Super Bowl. Super Bowl 57 was a great showdown between two great teams and it definitely shows that both of these teams will be threats for many years to come.
