Kicking Off League

By Sydney Reese

Thus far, the girls soccer team has been dominating their league! With Denise Picard and Elizabeth Jarrett as coaches, Melania Metonivic, Nadia Zaya, and Keira D’Arcangelo as captains, the Westmont girls soccer team has a very good chance of competing for the BVAL league title. They are currently first place in league, winning all four games so far. Their overall record is 7-2-2, and they are looking to compete in playoffs. Go support your warriors at their next few away games, as they only have 3 more games left in league! They play February 7th at 7pm at James Lick, February 9th at 7pm at Prospect, and February 15th at 7pm at Overfelt. Keep your eyes open for any updates about playoffs!

Eliana Birnbaum, a senior on the team, answers a few questions about her experience so far! “The season has been good so far. Each practice and game we have been improving and learning to work as a team and play to each other’s strengths. I love how close we all are. My favorite memory so far is probably when we went on a team hike in the rain in Los Gatos and got food after. The season has been great so far and I definitely look forward to the rest of the season!” Allyson Havasy, another senior on the team, adds on to Eliana, saying, “I have loved being with the team so far and starting off league strong with 2 wins has been awesome, but also we have been making great progress at practice which is really paying off!!”
