The Westmont wrestling team and their coach Andrew Flores have high expectations going into the 2022-2023 school year. The team was previously made up of ten wrestlers last season and saw their top prospect, Angel Blanco, rank fourth place in CCS. The sport of wrestling requires wrestlers to reach a certain weight class that would properly place the athletes in fair competitions against similarly weighing opponents. The rankings for wrestling include an individual ranking for every wrestler determined by their wrestling meet record. When interviewing Angel for his personal stats and opinions about how the team would do he was very excited for the upcoming season as he believes he will improve his ranking. When asked if he had an inspiration he replied with a saying he was told by his coaches, “Mirror mirror on the wall I’ll always get up after I fall and whether I run, walk, or have to crawl I’ll set my goals and achieve them all.” All wrestlers for the Westmont team are very ecstatic about the upcoming season and hope to do very well.
