Forget Abbott & DeSantis

As November 8 approaches, voters need to rethink and recognize all their governors have done this past year. Two main states that need to rethink their governors are Texas and Florida.

Abbott: To start off, in May this year, a deadly school shooting occurred in Uvalde, Texas where 19 children and 2 adults lost their lives. After this incident, many more Texans were enraged over gun laws. What did Abbott do? Abbottt did nothing about gun laws to protect schools. Instead, that day, he stayed at a fundraiser for three hours after he was informed about this shooting. Many criticize him for not canceling the fundraiser.

Continuously, in 2021, Greg Abbott signed Texas’ abortion “trigger law” which went into affect this year. This trigger law makes it a felony to get or perform an abortion starting from the moment of fertilization. The only exception to this law is if the pregnant mother’s life is in danger.

Finally, Abbott has been treating migrants like toys. Earlier this year, Abbott asked donors to help donate money to fund buses sending migrants up to Washington D.C.. Abbott was able to send buses full of migrants to Democratic cities as well as Vice President Kamala Harris’ house.

DeSantis: There is always something up with Florida, they are just crazy; this year, it is a person. Can you guess who? Desantis!! Of course, a crazy governor.

In early 2022, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill was signed by Governor DeSantis.  This bill eliminated the discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten to third grade. While his defense for this is that parents should be the ones teaching their kids about sexuality and gender identity, this bill still poses a threat to the right of freedom of speech.

DeSantis just loves censorship; after the “Don’t Say Gay” bill was signed, another bill was signed that limited the discussion of race in businesses and schools. This bill was signed to counter the Critical Race Theory. What is up with DeSantis and his censorship of the citizens of Florida?

Finally, just like Abbott, DeSantis sent a whole plane of Venezulan migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Although this is a big issue, the bigger issue is that DeSantis lied and tricked these migrants. Florida paid around $30,000 for each 48 migrants. Come on Florida, spend your money on something else.

Instead of focusing on protecting the people of their states both Governor Abbott and DeSantis have been focused on barbaric ideas. Limiting the protection that Texans and Floridans have led to them being turkeys.
