Heaven in an App

By Amelia Lipcsei

Whenever I unlock my phone, the bright green and black Spotify logo always catches my eye. In fact, 90 percent of the time, it’s the first app I click on. Whether I’m doing homework, working out, or just relaxing in my room, I always have my Spotify up and running. I love almost everything about the app: the ability to customize my playlists and make folders, the easy way to add songs to the queue, the access to hundreds of playlists created specifically for me. The list goes on and on. However, I think that my favorite feature about Spotify, which sets it apart from a plethora of other streaming services, is how easy it is to connect to my friends, my family, and artists on the app. Having the capability of seeing what my friends and family are listening to, and being able to create shared playlists between us, has proven immensely important to me. Whenever I’m driving with people, I always create a Spotify blend with them, which puts songs that we both listen to often in a shared playlist between us. Likewise, everytime one of the artists I enjoy listening to releases a new album or announces dates for their upcoming tour, I feel like I’m always the first to know. Getting the notification about a new tour date and early access to tickets always brightens my day. Truly, the little green platform is heaven in an app.
