Kenobi Trailer Review

By Heder Ambriz

The teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi has released (March 9, 2022). The series takes place a few years after the devastating event of Order 66, also known as the Jedi Purge. During the Clone Wars, the Jedi led several battalions of clone troopers against the enemy, the Separatists. These troopers would gain the trust of the Jedi through the many battles that they fought alongside one another. For example, Obi-Wan and the 212th clone battalion with Commander Cody. They fought well alongside one another, so when Order 66 got initiated the Jedi didn’t expect to be turned on by their trusted troopers. The upcoming series will go over the events leading up to A New Hope and will focus on hunting the Jedi who survived Order 66—including Obi-Wan. While viewing the teaser trailer, I was shocked to see characters implemented into the show who were first seen in animated shows. For example, The Grand Inquisitor first appeared in Star Wars Rebels which first premiered in 2014. Also, I enjoyed the use of Darth Maul’s dual song, “Duel of the Fates”. The trailer ends with Darth Vader’s breathing sound, which only adds suspense to the audience. The Star Wars universe continues to expand with new Imperial Inquisitors being added, as only a few were known from Star Wars Rebels and the Star Wars game, “Jedi Fallen Order.” Hopefully, the directors integrate the inner conflicts within Obi-Wan as he struggles to process the fall of the Jedi Order.
