In game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, a two-dribble pull-up jump shot tore Klay Thompson’s achilles tendon and ACL. Keeping him away from the court until recently, on January 9, 2022, when he finally made his return. His first game back with the Warriors was against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had a total of 17 points, three three-pointers, and three rebounds. Klay even threw down a dunk in the 2nd quarter increasing the Warriors lead to 46-37. After two years of recovering and preparing for a comeback, Warriors fans can say we are pleased to welcome him back. Teammate Steph Curry shared a tweet about his fellow splash bro, “My brother returning to the court has me going down memory lane… let me hear your favorite @klaythompson memories! #KlayDay” The support from fans and the Warriors team pushed Klay and gave him the confidence needed to start and finish the game strong. In an interview after the game, Thompson said, “I’m so grateful to compete again, it’s been a long road. It was a very special moment I’ll never forget.” Klay’s return was a success and we hope the Splash Bros never have to play another game without each other.
