Don’t look back––we’re not going that way! Our Westmont Long Distance team has been performing at top-notch levels in their most recent meets. Outstandingly, at the Crystal Springs Serra Invitational on October 2, the Varsity Boys team placed second overall, and the Varsity Girls placed third. When asked to describe the Crystal Springs course, Junior Ojas Joshi responds, “Crystal is to cross country courses as ‘The Day That Never Comes’ by Metallica is to music. It. Never. Ends.” The course features a (seemingly endless) winding trail, and many hills. Despite the difficult conditions, our runners performed impressively well, and enjoyed both the team and personal victories. Sophomore Tauren Mitchell earned first place in the Varsity Girls race out of 102 runners; “It has been so fun to see our team improving at practice, then performing well in races. I’m so proud of the team we have become,” emphasizes Tauren. The runners look forward to their next League Meet on October 14 at Montgomery Hill, and CCS Championships on November 13 back at Crystal Springs. Let’s go Warriors!
