On Monday of March 29, 2021, Spring Training was officially over. The 30th of March marked a new hopeful season as the last was ended early. This season will hopefully be a good one as a fan favorite Buster Posey rejoined us back from September 29, 2019.
Along with Buster Curt Casali will also be joining him giving the bullpen a secure and reliable veteran backstops. This season, at first base Brandon Belt has made an appearance again after recovering from mononucleosis. He only played a few games in the cactus league but came back for opening day. At second base opened with a hot bat, Donovan Solano finished spring training with a .421 and three home runs over 15 games. Due to plantar fasciitis Evan Longoria made only a few games in the Cactus League. The Giants feel happy with his defensive progression and work and state that plantar fasciitis is something that Longoria has dealt with for a long time, but will continue working with it throughout the season. At shortstop, Brandon Crawford has made his 10th consecutive season joining players like Willie Mays, Robby Thompson, and Barry Bonds and even more accomplishments are to come as he only has 53 more games until he is put into the hall of fame for most games played at short. Our strong outfield consisting of Mike Yastrzemski, Austin Slater, Alex Dickerson, Darin Ruf, Mauricio Dubón is once again a strength club which will be headlined by our Mike Yastzemski who placed eighth in the National League MVP.
