What is The Shield?

By Kendall Albrecht

Welcome to The Shield! Westmont’s newspaper appears online monthly, and is run by a hardworking class of students who write articles as well as design pages. From Global News to Westmont Updates, Op/Ed articles to the latest fashion and food trends, there are reads for everyone. The Shield involves the whole student body through games, surveys, and includes writing from anyone interested in submitting their work. Thanks to our hardworking staff and wonderful advisor Andrew Evans, Issue 1 of The Shield is ready to read!

Remember, every Warrior needs a Shield!

Taylor Swift, Barbie, and Embracing Femininity

By Anjali Nayak

Life under a male reigning patriarchy has defined behaving too much like “a woman” as rationale to take away an individual’s credibility. Systematically, overtly feminine humans are reduced to words that simply demean their experiences and emotions: crazy, psychotic, ditzy, dramatic.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Listen to the newest episode of The Sword, Westmont’s student run podcast. To kick off the school year, hosts Anjali Nayak and Lily Bourne interview the 2023 winner of the Most Inspirational robe — George Bilionis.
