Keeping Up With the Cut

By Josie Barker

I’ve certainly criticized hobbies. In the past, I’ve looked down on gloving, scrutinized spoon collectors, heck, I’ve even laughed at the mere mention of golf, yet I’ve never felt so indifferent towards a craft as I do towards lawn mowing diarising. Lawn mowing diarising—to those who don’t know what it is—is an activity in which participants schedule and record their lawn mowing sessions in a diary. I mean, nothing screams anticipation like waiting for your monthly grass trim.

Personally, although I’d much rather watch paint dry, here are some tips to elevate your turf trimming. As an outsider on this topic, I’ll try my best to give some good advice, starting with building buffer days into your schedule in order to take into account unfortunate weather dilemmas, and to prevent compacting wet soil. Furthermore, use dedicated tracking tools such as Lawn Care Journal and YardIQ to document mowing dates, grass heights, and fertilizer treatments, ensuring that not a single detail of your turf-tending journey goes unrecorded. If an app that specializes in yard maintenance isn’t the most awesome thing you landscapers have ever heard, then I’m not sure what is. The next time you go take a look at your yard, take the time to -think of a new way to rotate your mowing pattern. Take the initiative, take the risk, make a difference, and indulge in some lawn care, and pick up lawn mowing diarising.
