Starter Pack: How To Be PAW-STIVE!

By Penny Nunes

Walking into room 58 every B-day, Mr. Evans always thanks me for being so positive. Sometimes he asks me how I do it—how do I stay so positive when it is so hard to do so? Well, this one is for you, Mr. Evans! Here are the three most important steps to being PAW-STIVE! (As he likes to call it).

Step 1: Mindset

You will get nowhere if you have a bad attitude. Listening to sad music, watching sad movies, talking about sad things…are we noticing a theme? SAD! There is, of course, a time and a place for that—however, surrounding yourself with depressing things will only grow that feeling in the same way surrounding yourself with happy things grows that feeling! You have to think good to feel good.

Step 2: Empathy

Knowing and understanding that not everyone around you can be happy 24/7 is the biggest eye-opener. People feel things, like real emotions, and it helps so much to have people around you who can brighten your mood. That’s why having people who can listen and not judge changes the whole thing. Be that person, be the one that people look to.

Step 3: Want it

This relates slightly back to mindset because you have to—well, want it! You have to want to be positive, to better yourself, and to make everywhere a better place. If you don’t truly have an interest in creating stronger environments, how can you expect yourself to do so? You must remind yourself how badly you want to be the light in someone’s life and how badly you want to motivate the people around you.
