Fashion Is Her Language: Shuyan Hsu

Situated in a secluded corner of Westmont, Mandarin teacher Shuyan Hsu’s (usually called 老師, lao shi/teacher) chic bob and sophisticated outfits often go unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of school. For her students though, the stylish blouses and flowy pants are just a staple of Laoshi’s fashionable attire as she quizzes her classes on pinyin or guides them through a lesson in Chinese culture. 

What is the difference between the fashion in the US and in Taiwan?

My opinion is that people in Taiwan tend to wear clothes with more refined designs, while here in the States, we tend to wear clothing with brighter colors and urban designs.

Jeans and white T-shirts.

Uniqlo and Muji

Denim and baggy trousers

Don’t mix too many colors, including the accessories.
