On May 11th, Tyler Brown left two people seriously wounded in an abominable shooting in Cambridge, Boston. In the morning before the shooting, Brown allegedly shouted, “These people are gonna f***ing pay.” He then went on to haphazardly fire at least 60 rounds into cars and buildings nearby on Memorial Drive.
The County District Attorney’s office charged Brown with carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a large-capacity firearm, and armed assault with intent to murder. Brown has previously served time in prison for shooting at Boston officers in 2020, as well as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
After shooting at several people and hospitalizing two men with life-threatening injuries, the shooting came to an end when Brown was confronted by a state police trooper and an armed former Marine.
In recent years, the number of gun deaths in America has steadily increased, up to over 44,000 in 2024. Tyler E. Brown should never have been released from jail; he only served 3.5 years in prison after trying to murder a police officer. The judicial branch and government as a whole need to have more regulations on weaponry and the unsafe individuals who cause these atrocities.
