Westmont Baseball Teacher Appreciation Game!

By Roman Soto

Teachers lay the foundation for a student’s life; the social, academic, disciplined, and fun environment promoted by teachers at Westmont High School encourages young minds eager to catalyze change. To show their appreciation, the Westmont Baseball Team invited the teaching staff to their game against Branham in recognition of their supportive efforts both in and out of the classroom. Lined up to take photos with some of their favorite teachers, the Varsity squad handed each teacher a rose as a small token of respect. As the team lined up on the foul lines, teachers walked out beside the players to pledge allegiance to the flag. Varsity right fielder Josh Doherty, first-baseman Lucas Grier, and their invited teacher Paula Smith led the team break with a “Warriors on me! Warriors on three! One, Two, Three, Warriors!”

Unfortunately, the Warriors fell short with an 8-2 loss, but not without a fight. The unconditionally supportive cheer squad in the bleachers—made up of English and Yearbook teacher Rebecca Bachelor and Agricultural Studies teacher Danielle Arostegui—provided the team with endless words of motivation.
