I have very few possessions in my life I would consider prized, and though this may sound absurd, one of the treasures that earns a spot on this exclusive list is my Crocs. Not just your ordinary, stereotypical Crocs, but the glorious Crocs slides that I’ve been wearing for five years—complete with a unique washed out tie-dye pattern and Jibbitz. However, these Crocs have been the topic of much ridicule and mockery from my friends and family, telling me that they “ruin the outfit,” or asking “what are those?” I can’t go a single day in my comfy Crocs without someone pointing them out and insinuating that they look stupid. It seems that I’m the only person who truly understands and appreciates the beauty of these shoes. But it’s okay, because there are so many reasons why Crocs slides are superior, and no one could ever force me to stop wearing them.
As I’m currently still searching for someone to hear me out on this niche of mine, I’ll list a few of the most desirable traits of the Crocs, and hopefully, I’ll be able to win somebody over.
- Extreme comfort – The Crocs slides are made with a foam-like material that is very lightweight and bouncy. The material shapes to your feet as you wear them more, making them perfect for everyday casual wear. For those who prefer a more rigid feel, you can opt for the Classic; and for those seeking a softer model, you can look into the Mellow collection, which is meant to be more of a recovery shoe.
- Durability – Like I mentioned previously, I’ve had these Crocs for five years now; and I’ve never once had to think about replacing them, despite the fact that they’ve been through thick and thin with me. The rigid structure of the slides ensures that they last for a very long time, so you get your money’s worth. Additionally, the smooth material makes the shoes resistant to water, meaning you can simply wash them off with water and soap to eliminate dirt and make them look shiny and clean again.
- Customization – Lastly, like the classic Crocs that come to mind, the slides are customizable as they also have the holes that are a staple of the brand. You can choose Jibbitz to spice up the shoes and bring your personality to them. There are many different shapes, styles, and colors to choose from as well.
Overall, the Crocs slides are, in my opinion, the smartest option for a choice of shoe. It’s not that they have some groundbreaking technology or crazy feature that makes them stand out, but that they check all the boxes to ensure simple comfort, convenience, and style—which is what makes them so unforgettable. That’s why I know that if someone is poking fun at my Crocs slides, they just haven’t experienced the glory of them.
