The boys’ basketball team finished with an impressive record of 20-4 (9-3 in league), T-2nd in the Mt. Hamilton A League. The first 20-win season by the boys’ basketball team in a long time. While the season didn’t end the way they wanted to, there is a lot to be proud of.
To start, the team won the 58th annual Gary Brink Tournament, the first time Westmont has won since 2009! After that, they won the Bob Hagen Gilroy Tournament. Finally, to wrap up the preseason, they went undefeated in the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic. This left the team with a very impressive undefeated record in the preseason, having them rolling going into league play.
The Warriors’ 2-2 record to start league play wasn’t the most impressive, but after that, they got things rolling. Going on a six-game win streak put them at 8-2! They would then go 1-1 in the last two games and finish in 2nd place in the A-League.
Their successful season granted them a fourth seed and a double bye in the CCS Division 2 playoffs. Unfortunately, their season would end after a tough 9-point loss to Burlingame. Even though the team’s goal was to win CCS, the boys accomplished a lot this season and have a lot to be proud of.
