NFL Free Agency has begun, and our San Francisco 49ers have already been making some major moves as they get ready for the 2026 season. One of the team’s biggest additions so far is wide receiver Mike Evans, who has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mike Evans currently ties the record alongside 49er legend Jerry Rice for most consecutive seasons with over 1K receiving yards. Evans is sure to give the team another experienced target, and when paired with franchise QB Brock Purdy, could help boost the 49ers back into a major team in the NFC.
Besides Mike Evans, the 49ers have also added offensive tackle Vederian Lowe, attempting to strengthen offensive line depth, a long scrutinized issue with the 49ers.
San Francisco has also made other smaller roster moves in order to add depth to the team, acquiring players like Linebacker Garret Wallow and Offensive Lineman Brett Toth. These additions help give the 49ers more depth and versatility, illustrating the front office’s strive to fill key gaps.
However, despite their additions, the 49ers have also lost a few players, including return specialist Skyy Moore to the Green Bay Packers, and defensive lineman Jordan Elliott to the Tennessee Titans.
Despite these losses, the 49ers remain focused on establishing a competitive team by adding experienced vets that will help them compete for a Super Bowl in the upcoming season.
