6 goals for ‘26

By Delaney Pound

This year, I want to make it a point to do all the things I have been wanting to do! Recently, I have been telling myself I will do a lot of things, but I want to hold myself accountable and actually accomplish my goals. Some of these things are random, a bit of a stretch, or boring, but for me, they are important. Let’s take a look!

#1 – Keep my room clean!

I feel like keeping my room clean keeps my mind clean as well! I have been doing a much better making sure it is a space I feel comfortable in. Since life gets really busy, I stop prioritizing my room’s cleanliness, but this year I will make sure to clean it up every chance I get.

#2 – Go on a trip with my brother!

A few weeks ago, my dad gave my brother and I a chance to go on a trip together anywhere in the US. We haven’t started planning it yet, but I am really excited to go to a new place and spend time with my brother. Since we are both growing up and have less time on our hands dealing with our own lives, I think this is a really great opportunity for us to connect. Yay!

#3 – Lock in on softball!

Over the summer, my softball team and I had a really great season! I really want that effort and passion to carry over to this school season and stay motivated the whole way through. Softball is very enjoyable for me, though sometimes it can be really stressful. I plan on making sure the stress doesn’t overpower my enjoyment of my sport because sometimes that tends to happen. I will be putting in as much effort as humanly possible to have a good high school season!

#4 – Try new things!

I know this goal is quite broad, but this is definitely something I want to get better at. I think this also goes along with keeping an open mind with everything, which is something I really want to work on. I have been trying new things that I haven’t liked in the past and I am really happy I have. I want to continue to do that because so far, it has only been beneficial for me!

#5 – Spend less money!

Just like pretty much every teenager, I am starting to have a terrible shopping addiction. I really need to stop spending money because although it feels good at the moment, it stresses me out a lot later on. Once I finally become employed, I think this will be less of a problem, but at this moment I really need to lock in.

#6 – Be happy!

I think this goes without saying, but more than anything, I want to be happy and content with my life this year. Junior year is supposed to be stressful, but I truly think that prioritizing mental health over everything will lead to success more than stressing out over schoolwork will. I just want to feel fulfilled and surround myself with the people I love while doing the things that I love!

Happy 2026!
