Galentine’s Dress Code (For Guys)

By Laura Lipcsei

This article is dedicated to Gio Arteaga (who always complains about not being invited to Galentine’s when he refuses to fit the dress code).

Are you a man in a female friend group? Have you (a man) been spontaneously invited to a Galentine’s? Are you and your bros doing Galentine’s together? Or are you even just someone who is worried about what to wear to Galentine’s? Well, I’ve got you covered! After being best friends with one Gio Arteaga—who, to the surprise of hopefully no one reading this, is a part of a female friend group—and listening to him stress and complain about Galentines, I have become enlightened to what a man must wear if he wants to be granted an invitation to Galentines. Below, I will list the possible outfits any man can wear to a Galentine’s event.

  1. A dress (+ wig)

A cutesy, romantic—or otherwise aesthetically pleasing—dress is the best option for anyone partaking in a formal Galentine’s celebration. Of course, if the Galentine’s you are participating in has a more casual dress code, then don’t wear a dress. But as long as it fits the theme, a dress—especially a dress with a wig—is your best bet. After all, it’s called Galentine’s, not Palentine’s, so you want to disguise your innate male nature as much as possible!

  1. A skirt and cute top

If you don’t own a dress or just can’t find one that fits, a skirt paired with a cutesy top is also a splendid option—and for a more casual Galentine’s, it’s the best! Just make sure that the top and skirt match; you want to look cutesy, not like a clown.

  1. A cute top and jeans (this should be your last resort unless the Galentines is very casual)

While not as good as the other options, an elegant or aesthetic top paired with some nice jeans can pass as an acceptable outfit for Galentine’s. However, if the Galentine’s you are going to is formal, do not wear this; on the other hand, if the Galentine’s you are going to is super casual, this type of outfit is actually your best bet!

Some other add-ons to the options above that elevate your look:

  • Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings—any and all jewelry
  • Makeup (you can do it yourself or have your gal pals—or girlfriend—do it)
  • Heels (I wouldn’t recommend this if you haven’t worn them before because they can be painful. Gio, if you are reading this, I’m forcing you to wear a pair of heels—as well as makeup and jewelry—to our Galentine’s.)
