That’s All There Is To Do

By Averi Halbert

When I, one day,
Inevitably,
Wake up and wonder what I’ve done with my life
And before I burrow into regret
Shame
Hate
I hope I find you
Living in the light
As it filters through the window
Falling onto the flowers
We picked on our walk
The day before
And as the cookies cool
And you burn your mouth in impatience
I hope I laugh
And I, one day,
Will remember I’ve lived the best I could
Because that’s all there is to do
