What is your favorite part about this piece?
The composition and how there’s very clear subjects and framing and such.
What was a challenge in creating this ?
Getting a good shutter speed for the light levels I was working with and the speed I had to shoot at.
What medium did you use to create this artwork?
Other: Photography.
What is the meaning behind your artwork?
It is meant to encapsulate the individual and the mindset when doing something with passion, the photo shows an image of determination and concentration in a single freeze-frame relaying the mindset we often experience when doing the things we love.
What was the inspiration behind this piece?
A lot of popular skating photography inspired this piece with the editing style, however the compositional elements in the shot were inspired by flat-lay photography based on how the shot came together compositionally.
What do you hope viewers will take away from this artwork?
I hope viewers can somewhat relate it to their lives as they can see the falls and rises in skill and can relate to the mindset of determination in this photo.
What was the process like in creating this piece?
First I took some photos, narrowed it down to about 1/10 of the photos, then I finally edited and finished the photos.
Who is your favorite artist and why?
Grant Brittain, he’s one of the most famous skating photographers, he uses a lot of unique methods and techniques to make his photos compositionally very interesting. He formed the way skating is shot nowadays and his influence and work are both a huge inspiration for me.
