Last month, my sister Kathryn Tanaka started watching a medical drama called House. Because I only ever watched whatever episode she happened to be watching, I had no idea who the characters were or how to keep track of them. If you’re like me, this is where I come in to help. All of House’s most important characters from Season 1 in one place. Here we go.

Name: Gregory House (House)
Role: Head of Diagnostic Medicine
Description: Kind of a jerk, but unfortunately a brilliant genius; relies on a combination of instinct and unconventional thinking to diagnose patients, super antisocial and sort of hates everyone but he’s really smart and hasn’t killed a patient yet so he won’t get fired
Likability: 7.68/10

Character: Allison Cameron (Cameron)
Role: Immunologist
Description: Compassionate; empathetic but often lets it get in the way of her job; lets her personal history influence her professional life; actually cares about her patients and their wellbeing despite what illness they may have
Likability: 8/10

Character: Eric Foreman (Foreman)
Role: Neurologist
Description: Distrusts House’s diagnostic methods; doesn’t care how others perceive him; honestly one of the only people that actually stands up to House’s methods; “break-in” man for environmental scenes; probably the most realistic
Likability: 8.73/10

Character: Robert Chase (Chase)
Role: Surgeon and intensive care specialist
Description: Australian; does what he’s told; the best deductive reasoner on the diagnostic team aside from House; the most empathetic while still possessing the ability to do his job
Likability: 11/10

Character: Lisa Cuddy (Cuddy)
Role: Dean of Medicine and Hospital Administrator
Description: Only ever seen fighting with House; kind of annoying but she’s really just trying to do her job
Likability: 7/10

Character: James Wilson (Wilson)
Role: Head of Oncology
Description: House’s only voice of reason throughout the season; also the only person House trusts; the best person to convince a patient to take a treatment; hopeless romantic
Likability: 9/10
