  1. Calvin Klein (American fashion designer) was born on November 19, 1942.
  2. 1969: Football legend Pelé scored his 1,000th professional goal in a match in Rio de Janeiro.
  3. 1863: Abraham Lincoln delivered the famous Gettysburg Address during the American Civil War.
  4. 1493: Christopher Columbus landed on the island now known as Puerto Rico and named it San Juan Bautista. 
  5. November 19 is celebrated as International Men’s Day in many countries—raising awareness of men’s health and positive male role-models.
  6. 1977: Anwar Sadat became the first Arab leader to officially visit Israel and address its parliament.
  7. 1950: British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson was appointed Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. 
  8. 1805: the expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark reached the Pacific Ocean, marking the successful crossing of the North American continent by the first European-Americans to do so.
  9. 2010: Prince William and Kate Middleton announce their engagement! The royal couple’s engagement was made public, capturing global media attention ahead of their 2011 wedding.
  10. 2022: Taylor Swift breaks Spotify streaming records. Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day after releasing her album Midnights, dominating charts worldwide.
