Match Point Momentum: Girls Tennis Recap

By Kaia Costa

After going undefeated last year, the Westmont High School Girls Tennis team moved up to the “A” league. A big step that came with new challenges. “We moved to a harder league after going undefeated last year,” said sophomore Mady Lee. “We faced a lot of challenges playing in A league.” Despite tougher competition, the team fought hard.

This fierce and hardworking group showed strong teamwork throughout the season. “My favorite moment from this year is going to In-N-Out after matches because we got to bond with our teammates and it was just fun,” Mady shares.

Sophomore, Lucky Felder, agreed that the team’s spirit was what made the season memorable. “The only thing I remember is that we were 2–8,” she said with a laugh. “My favorite moment was senior night because we got to celebrate our captains Melissa and Dilfuza who both did tennis for four years and contributed so much to the team!”

Mady added, “Another favorite moment was watching Thursday Tran play her last match of the season at Leland… she ended up winning, and it just shows the commitment from our team.”

As the season came to an end, the Westmont Girls Tennis team proved that growth isn’t just measured in wins, but in teamwork, resilience, and shared memories. With a strong group of returning players and a deep sense of camaraderie, the future looks bright for the Warriors both on and off the court.
