Morgan Wallen, the country singer from Sneedville, Tennessee, has quickly become one of the biggest names in country music today. Through many trials and tribulations, Wallen went from getting eliminated in the playoff rounds of The Voice in 2014, to performing sold-out shows to tens of thousands of people! While attending his concert in August 2025, I quickly observed how many “fans” only knew the words to his most popular songs! One may argue that he’s “overrated” and “generic” but they clearly haven’t listened to his full discography. As an avid listener and fan since his second album: Dangerous (2021), these are my rankings of my favorite underrated Morgan Wallen songs.
- “Little Rain” Easily one of the most underrated gems on Wallen’s debut album If I Know Me (2018), “Little Rain” is a shining example of his vocal versatility and natural storytelling ability. It’s wholesome, heartfelt, and the kind of song that just makes you want to sing along—proof that even early in his career, Wallen had the chops to stand out.
- “Scared To Live Without You” This track was completely set up for failure, buried in a deluxe edition instead of a main studio album, which meant it never got the attention it deserved. But make no mistake—this is Wallen’s most underrated song. Vulnerable, raw, and honest, it could have easily been one of his biggest hits if given the chance. It’s in a league of its own and showcases a side of him that not enough fans get to see.
- “Flower Shops” (feat. Morgan Wallen) [Acoustic] Technically an ERNEST song, but one that absolutely belongs on this list. There’s a shocking lack of praise for this track, considering how powerful it is. While ERNEST delivers beautifully, Wallen’s contributions throughout the song are so strong that it almost feels like his. The acoustic version, especially, tugs at the heartstrings in a way few songs can. It’s one of those collaborations that lingers with you long after the last note.
- “Not Good at Not” This track is criminally overlooked. Wallen’s delivery is raw and effortless, almost like he’s sitting across from you telling his story. It’s catchy, smooth, and has that perfect late-night drive vibe. A true hidden treasure that deserved more spotlight.
- “Redneck Love Song” If you want a pure country love song, this is it. Wallen perfectly balances playful lyrics with heartfelt emotion. It feels like a track written for summer nights on the back porch, and yet it rarely makes anyone’s “favorites” list—which is a shame.
- “This Side of a Dust Cloud” One of the most underrated tracks from Dangerous: The Double Album. The storytelling here is immaculate. Instead of writing another heartbreak song, Wallen flips the perspective, asking what it’s like to be the one left behind. It’s clever, moving, and absolutely deserved more recognition.
- “Devil Don’t Know” A beautifully haunting track tucked into One Thing at a Time (Deluxe). The stripped-down vulnerability and dark honesty in this one hit deep. It’s the kind of song that sneaks up on you, reminding listeners that Wallen is much more than party anthems and radio singles.
- “Outlook” This is Wallen at his most introspective. “Outlook” shows his growth, maturity, and ability to write about life with depth. It’s not a party song, it’s not a chart-topping single—it’s real and reflective. The fact that this isn’t more widely discussed proves how underrated it is.
- “Outlaw” This collaboration with Hardy is absolutely electric. It’s gritty, bold, and packed with attitude. Somehow, it still slips under the radar when people talk about his best songs. “Outlaw” captures the rebellious side of Wallen in a way few tracks do.
- “Bandaid on a Bullet Hole” Painfully underrated. This song showcases Wallen’s ability to make heartbreak sound both poetic and universal. The title itself is brilliant—it says so much in just a few words. The track deserves to be played alongside his biggest hits, yet it remains hidden in plain sight.
All in all, Morgan Wallen is often reduced to his biggest radio singles, but true fans know his true bangers run much deeper. Songs like “Little Rain” and “This Side of a Dust Cloud” prove his storytelling ability, while tracks like “Outlook” and “Devil Don’t Know” highlight his vulnerability. He has an incredible knack for balancing rowdy anthems with gut-punching emotional ballads, and his most underrated songs are the perfect proof of that.
So the next time someone calls him “generic” or “overrated,” point them toward these hidden gems. They’ll walk away with a whole new outlook on Morgan Wallen.
