After the many, many, extremely impactful and honestly ridiculous political events which have occurred this year, I have decided to list the top three most momentous moments this year down below.
3. Trump & Elon
The campaign, the Tesla dealership at the White House, the German-style salute, the breakup—all these iconic moments between Trump and Elon (who will now be collectively referred to as Elrump) left a tremendous impact on the sanity of the United States (and myself). I’m going to gloss over the campaign because there’s just too much to cover—but all you need to know is that there was tension between Elrump. It was the beginning of one of the most iconic relationships in history. Also, the Tesla dealership at the White House? Are you kidding me? That’s so romantic! But from there, everything went a bit downhill for Elrump, starting with Elon’s shocking German-style salute, which went viral online—and not in a good way. Then, the breakup. Tweets, initially from Elon, slandering Trump. Soon, Trump’s replies. The entire Elrump fiasco broadcasted for the world to see. It’s safe to say, Elrump certainly left a mark with their iconic, albeit short, relationship.
2. Charlie Kirk’s death
Shocking and horrifying, Charlie Kirk’s death certainly left an impact on the United States–-but not in a good way. The violent death of Kirk follows a trend of political violence—and points to more coming in the future. Furthermore, instead of leaving the man to rest, conservative media has taken to commercializing Kirk’s death; for example, at Prestonwood Baptist Church, the Megachurch played an AI generated clip of Charlie Kirk from beyond the grave, telling everyone “first I want you to know I am fine” and “my soul is secure in Christ.” I wish I was joking. Moreover, the man couldn’t be granted a private funeral either, because of course not. Instead, the mournful occurrence became a largely televised event, with Erika Kirk herself bringing out the dramatics and tears—passionately screaming “I forgive you” to Kirk’s killer—all to propel conservative media propaganda. 1. No Kings Protests
Garnering millions of people to get out and protest, the No Kings Protest has been one the most successful protests in the US in recent times. The protests oppose the corruption of Trump and his administration, targeting the inhuman ICE protocols and the tyrannical way Trump has treated his citizens. A powerful message to the United States, the No Kings Protests remain the most impactful moment of this year. (Click here to learn more.)
